Moving from LESS FEAR  Towards MORE DESIRE today!

Johnny Arrowhead is a story teller. He is asked about the origins of his songs and what inspired him. He believes the listener should take from art what their senses gather without any coaxing. Here is what he has said about a few select songs from the current as well as the previous works.

  •  "Somehow" (Sure Hope So) - I don't feel lost these days and I do what I can. That is how I feel after a half a life on this great earth. I'll get by somehow.

  •  "Diamonds" (Sure Hope So) - There should be a diamond in the rough in any disaster area. The Gulf Coast is near and dear to many of us. I just felt a song in me that celebrates family and that strength it brings to overcome major obstacles in life.

  •   "River of Hope (for Marie)" - My little sister lost her battle with the big "C" in 2005 and I wrote this song for her before she passed. She liked it. All I'm trying to say is we are all going down that river called life and none of us knows when we will be plucked from the waters. Be strong

    Previous Recordings

    •  "Tinkerbelle" (Those Eyes) - If you are a boomer, you will recall in the old Peter Pan stories Tinkerbelle was portrayed as fading away and the boys would clap their hands to get her glow back. To me, that sums up the second half of life.

    •   "They Don’t Want U" (Those Eyes) – The Catholic Church got under my skin one day and a song was born. Sorry Father.

    •   "Mittens" (Those Eyes) – Puppets too can have a love life. Fantasy runs wild in old toy boxes.

    •   "Last Lap" (Without Warning) "This song is a tribute to Dale Earnhart's passion for life. It was written a day or two after his death on the last lap of the race he loved. I saw him hit the wall and was struck by the notion that he died doing what he loved. As part of the mid-life reflection theme of this CD, I was reflecting on death. I thought that the best way to go when we all get our call from the man upstairs would be to go out doing what we love."

    •   "Two Ladies" (Taste of Loneliness) "I was watching the Today Show a couple of days after Princess Diana's death and Michael Douglas was being interviewed. He said Lady Di had tried to do so much for mankind and her death was a great loss kind of like if we lost Mother Teresa. That afternoon I heard that Mother Teresa had passed and wrote this Irish pub sounding song to toast those two great ladies."

    •  "Echo" (Without Warning) "Don't we all hear a little voice in our heads telling us to be responsible while another says go explore your passions? If you don't, you don't have any responsibilities or you're too young."

    •   "Jasper, TX." (Leaning West) "I just could not believe that in this day and age rednecks still chain innocent black men to the back of pickup trucks and drag them to their deaths. It was great how this small town came together to bring down the fences."

    •   "The Scoutmaster" (Sittin' With My Guitar) "Standing at the Vietnam Wall, I heard a boy scout leader telling his story to his troops. Heavy for those boys and heavy for me. I wrote the song an hour later in the men's room of the Smithstonian Museum 3rd floor. I always imagined Garth Brooks singing it with the Boston Pops Orchestra on the Fourth of July."
